District of Columbia - 2008 Fire/EMS Cadet Program

The District of Columbia is now excepting applications for the 2008 Fire/EMS Cadet Program. Applications will be accepted starting February 4 - 29, 2008. Applications must be submitted in person at the DC Department of Employment Services, Office of Youth Programs, 625 H Street, NE, Washington, DC, Monday thru Friday, 9:30 amd to 3:30 pm. For specific requirements for the program, interested applicants should contact the Department of Employment Services at 202-698-3492 or the Fire/EMS Cadet Office at 202-673-6600.

DC Summer Youth Employment Registration

Registration for the 2008 Summer Youth Employment Program will begin Monday, February 4, 2008 and officially end April 26, 2008. For District residents attending college outside of the metropolitan area, registration will end June 2, 2008. The program is for District youth residents ages 14 to 21. Young people interested in participating in the program must complete a 2008 summer program application. They are also required to bring the following items at the time they register for the program:

> proof of DC residency
> proof date of birth
> proof of citizenship/permanent residency, and
> social security number.

College students must also bring a current resume and college transcript.

Summer youth will be employed from June 23, 2008 to August, 2008 (date to be announced.

DC Department of Recreation Summer Jobs

The DC Department of Recreation is accepting applications for summer employment. Interested individuals should contact the department about summer positions which include one week of paid, mandatory training and 8 weeks of summer programs. Applicants must be 16 years of age or older. All positions require a criminal back ground check. Some positions may require drug and alcohol testing.
