When selecting a camp for your children there are many things as a parent you must consider. You must consider the age, interest, needs, and personality of your children. You must consider your budget, location, and safety. Remember the success of the camp can be a lifelong experience for your children.

  • Collect brochures and booklets
  • Make telephone calls and visits
  • Talk to other parents
  • Read the goals and objectives of the camp
  • Is it a day camp, overnight camp, weekend camp or residential camp?
  • Is it full day, half day or both?
  • Is there a scholarship available?
  • What is the cost: day, week or month?
  • What are the ages of the campers?
  • Is the camp accredited by the ACA and in compliance with standards including health, safety and programs?
  • What are the qualifications and career background of the director and staff?
  • Is there a medical staff on the premises?
  • How many campers per counselors?
  • Are the campers in same age groups or have the same interest?
  • How long are you required to stay?
  • Do you have to take part in the whole camp program or only in your interest?
  • What meals will be available to the campers?
  • What are the camp hours?
  • If it is overnight or residential, what are the living and sleeping arrangements?
  • Will there be indoor and outdoor activities?
  • What months will the camp be in operation?
